Producer Yuichiro Saito revealed at The Boy and The Beast Blu-ray & DVD Release Talk Show on Sunday that director Mamoru Hosoda (The Boy and The Beast, Wolf Children, Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) “is already beginning to work on a new movie.”
Saito noted that similar to how The Boy and The Beast existed due to Wolf Children, Hosoda’s next work was made possible due to The Boy and The Beast. Saito also mused that Hosoda’s next work will be one full of new challenges.
The Boy and The Beast Blu-ray Disc and DVD went on sale in Japan last month, while Funimation is releasing the anime film in theaters in North America this month.
