Maybe dogs aren’t man’s best friend after all?
Most people won’t admit it, but even if they have a great relationship with both parents, they still secretly have a favorite of the two. As kids, some may get labelled as a “daddy’s girl” or a “mama’s boy”, but generally will still show affection to both mom and dad.
Dogs, on the other hand, tend to be a bit more black-and-white with their feelings — either they like you or they don’t. In the case of these two Bichon Frise from Japan, it’s quite clear who their favorite person in the family is.
▼ “The difference between their expressions when being
held by mom versus when being held by dad is hilarious.”
While out with their people-parents for a walk under the cherry blossoms, they first got a picture with mum, and were all smiles while being held.
When it came time to pose with dad, however…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a scowl on a dog’s face before.
Poor dad! Even though he does his best to take care of them too….
Still, the Internet fell in love with displeased doggos when their photos were shared on Twitter (username has been left out upon request), giving them over 100,000 retweets and 300,000 likes. One commentor also offered a different take on the situation:
“This made me laugh! But I also had a thought — maybe their smiles are actually directed at the one holding the camera instead (which would be dad, right)?“
So could be that it’s actually dear old Dad they prefer, instead of Mom? Tell us what you think! It’s certainly not the first hilarious canine rejection of their owner that we’ve seen.
