You have to hear this to believe it!
Parrots are popular pets in Japan, and we’ve seen them before hogging space heaters so their owners can’t use them, and filling their tail feathers with magazine clippings to spruce themselves up a bit.
And now Japanese Twitter user @Taniguchi_EX has added their own cute pet parrot antics to the Internet with their bird that mimics a certain familiar sound:
▼ “Parrots raised in gamer houses turn into a Nintendo Switch.”

The sounds that the bird makes are instantly recognizable to anyone who owns a Switch: they’re the little bleep and bloops sounds the main menu makes when you navigate around it. It even does the little clicking sound your cursor makes when it bops around the screen.
Because of the incredible accuracy of the bird’s sounds, some people on Twitter asked if the video was edited or altered in anyway, but @Taniguchi_EX assured them that it was only the voice of the parrot and nothing more.
They also added that hearing the sounds from the parrot is more noisier and more annoying than the actual Switch itself. We can imagine that while it’s cute to watch for less than a minute in a video, it would likely get quite repetitive after a while.
Here’s how Japanese netizens reacted to the perfect-pitch parrot:
“That is adorable.”
“My parrot does the same thing! They really like mimicking the sounds the icons make.”
“That is an impressive level of sound reproduction.”
“That bird is a genius.”
“Our parrot mimics the sound of the iPhone camera shutter because we take too many pictures.”
It’s certainly cute, but at the end of the day we have to ask ourselves: is all of this parrot-mimicking just harmless fun, or is it an organized ploy by the birds to copy every part of our lives? Our future may be quite feathery, indeed.
