With the high-definition remake of the beautiful cel-shaded action RPG The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker set to go on sale next month (early October in Europe/North America), gamers the world over were excited to see a new video from Nintendo last weekend introducing the game’s new “hero mode” which powers up enemies’ attacks while removing life hearts from the game world. Nintendo pulled the video soon after, however, as it also contained a shot of a Zelda-themed Wii U console that the company has yet to officially announce.
Although the video is no longer up on Nintendo’s official site, Dailymotion managed to snag a copy of it, which you can watch for yourselves here. At around the 50-second mark, we can clearly see the black Wii U console pictured below, which features golden Hyrulian scrawl around its edge and shows the HD version of the game playing on its built-in touchscreen (on which it would be a crime to play such a pretty game).
Nintendo has yet to officially announce the hardware, but rumour has it that the special edition Wii U will have a larger, 32-Gigabyte hard disk and come bundled with The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD on launch day.
It may only be a little bit of gold writing, but there’s no denying that that things looks pretty, and with titles like Super Mario 3D World and the gorgeous Mario Kart 8 on the horizon, now might actually be a good time to pick up a Wii U.
