We make no effort to hide our love of Tokyo’s Kit Kat Chocolatory, the store that specializes in gourmet versions of the delicious chocolate wafers. After stopping by on opening day to grab a pack of sakura green tea flavor, we made a return trip to score some special bakeable Kit Kats.
Now, the Chocolatory is tempting us back again with a tantalizing new product: an ice cream and baked Kit Kat combo.
With summer coming up, the Ikebukuro Kit Kat specialist is looking for a way to keep customers cool, as well as their fingers free of melted chocolate. To that end, they’re offering a mix of soft serve ice cream and two custard pudding flavor baked Kit Kats.
Just 300 servings will be available each day, and the special treat will only go on sale from 1 pm, so you’ve got no excuse to not eat a healthy breakfast before your indulgence. The ice cream is made with the same chocolate Kit Kat Chocolatory head chef Yasumasa Takagi uses for his own proprietary line of confectionaries.
The whole thing is topped with a sprinkling of roasted pistachio powder, by the way, which should give it just enough of a sophisticated, adult flavor that you won’t have to share with your kids or younger siblings.
Officially called the Premium Soft Cream with Baked Kit Kat, the new dessert goes on sale May 8 for 600 yen (US $5.90).
