We talk about Hayao Miyazaki all the time here on RocketNews24, but that’s because the worlds that he created in his films are timeless and fascinating masterpieces. It’s easy to say that his work has inspired thousands of creative individuals around the world who look to him when making their own pieces of art.
That’s what artist SPARROW, who posts her work on Tumblr, seems to do and her animated GIFs are a real treat for anyone looking to lose themselves in Ghibli or Ghibli-like worlds. Join us after the jump for a beautiful tour of her magical GIFs and more!
The movement may seem inconsequential, just the stirring of a spoon or the twitch of a friendly rabbit ear, but the emotions you experience are certainly similar to watching any of Miyazaki’s films. The colors are warm and inviting, the scene heartfelt, and you really feel like jumping into the art and immersing yourself. Just a taste of what they are eating would be splendid; you can almost smell the eggs sizzling!
These wonderful scenes seem instantly familiar, like you’ve been escaping to them whenever you close your eyes. Each one makes you wish for a little more magic in your everyday live. You don’t have to take our word for it, just take a look for yourself.
There are even some that pay direct homage to one of Hayao Miyazaki’s greatest works, Howl’s Moving Castle, with the characters Howl and Calcifer enjoying each other’s company.
On her Tumblr, the artist gives a sneak peek into her process of designing and coloring each piece of art. It almost makes us less talented folk believe we could create something just as amazing.
Even without posting art that is a direct scene from one of Miyazaki’s classics, it’s definitely clear that SPARROW has great respect for the director and what he’s worked so hard to create. Feel free to check out more of her work on her Tumblr or Twitter page if you want to get a little more lost in her art. Who knows, with some time and dedication we could see SPARROW work on a future Ghibli project. It’s not such a longshot, as it would parallel the story of musician Cécile Corbel, who wrote the music for The Secret World of Arrietty.
