White dragons, dark magicians, and crazy Yugi hair are all looking better than ever.
Although it often gets stuck playing second fiddle to Pokémon (Japan’s other competitive trading card game-affiliated mega franchise), Yu-Gi-Oh! is no slouch in the anime department. Not only does the series have multiple spinoffs and hundreds of TV episodes, there have also been three animated Yu-Gi-Oh! films, with the most recent being 2010’s Yu-Gi-Oh!: Bonds Beyond Time.
Now, just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beginning of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, the franchise has a new theatrical installment on the way, and the upcoming film’s trailer has just been released.

Titled Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions, the film picks up shortly after the end of the original manga, with the lives of protagonist Yugi and his friends having returned to a state or normalcy…at least temporarily.
The group’s peaceful days come to an end with the appearance of a mysterious, blue-haired youth, who’s apparently come to do more than just look cool while staring out the window.
Soon, events are put in motion that will “carve a new chapter into the history of Yu-Gi-Oh!, according to the trailer’s narration.
But just because it’s a new chapter doesn’t mean Yugi doesn’t have time for an old foe, as the preview shows him dueling against rival Kaiba, with each unleashing the most iconic magical servants at their disposal.
Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions is set to hit theaters on April 23.
