Always be prepared, or so the boy scouts’ saying goes. And with this bizarre spring-loaded, condom-dispensing belt, you will be!
Okamoto, one of Japan’s biggest condom manufacturers, has released a new video documenting the research and development of a new device thought up by a team of scientists at its Lovers Laboratory, a special unit dedicated to ensuring that the people of Japan practice safe sex.
In the video, we learn that researchers were alarmed by the low numbers of people who routinely carry condoms, so they set to work on a device that would not only make sure the lovers of Japan always have access to one of their Zero One brand condoms, but provide a stylish and foolproof delivery every time.
Say hello to the Zero One Belt! (Don’t speak Japanese? Read the description below!)
▼ Wondering how they could increase the number of people using condoms, the team took to the streets of Shibuya to ask passersby about their condom-carrying habits.
The responses were disappointing to say the least, so the team knew they had to do something to ensure that the men of Japan always had access to a condom when the time for physical expressions of love arrived.
▼ “The world’s first wearable device for condoms”
Featuring a pair of sliding bay doors and a dock for a single condom, the Zero One Belt will always be there for you. Best of all, it’s voice-activated: the wearer simply says the magic word — Zero One — into a supplied microphone, and the unit quite literally springs into action!
▼ “It’s really difficult for us because nothing like this has been done before…”
But of course, the path to success is fraught with hazards, and the team had to work out a number of kinks before the belt was ready for testing in the real world.
▼ At first the launcher failed completely. Later, it was found to be too powerful, potentially leading to the embarrassing situation of the wearer being hit in the face by their very own love sheath.
But, after countless tests and modifications, the Zero One Belt was finally ready.
▼ “Oooooh!” It’s Japanese for “that’s awesomesauce”.
The device ready for a field test, the team transported it to the home of one of their earlier research participants. He looked positively thrilled to be involved.
▼ “Um… what the f–?”
After explaining the intricacies — and the benefits — of the love belt, the team sent their test pilot on his way, setting up a series of hidden cameras to watch the very scientific things happening in real-time.
▼ Hunched over their monitor, the research team wait with bated breath.
▼ Their young hero enters confidently, steps up onto the bed, and activates the device.
▼ Just seconds later, his pants lowered in preparation, the belt launches a Zero One condom into the air for our Japanese Romeo.
▼ He catches it!
▼ Success! All their hard work has paid off. Never again shall a young man go without a condom … so long as he wears this ridiculous device every day of his life!
This is, of course, all just a tongue-in-cheek promotional video for Okamoto’s Zero One brand of condoms, but it certainly sends a powerful message home about the importance of being prepared and having safe sex.
Although, if any teenage boys happen to be reading this, we should probably take a second to advise against wordlessly towering over your girlfriend and dropping your pants in place of more traditional foreplay…
