Eating over 100 bowls of ramen in Japan in less than 6 months has turned Fanny Chu into a ramen connoisseur.
Fanny Chu, owner of the Japanese food blog Japanese Foodie and creator of the Ramen Stickers, is back with a ramen noodle-themed poster to decorate your walls.
▼ Fanny with a scrumptious bowl of ramen
The Ramen Chart is undoubtedly a labor of love for Fanny. Not only did she create all of the artwork for the 25 featured “try before you die” ramen noodle bowls, but she also took extra care to organize the chart in such a manner that allows the viewer to get a sense of what goes into the broth of the soup and the region of Japan from which a particular specialty hails. Each of the bowls on the chart are considered by Fanny to be high quality and some have even won national awards!
▼ The background for the chart is the ubiquitous The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
Fanny says that the 25 noodle bowls she chose for the poster come from the 100+ she tried over the course of the past 6 months. To find these bowls, she researched various ramen shops, followed recommendations from friends, and of course, used the tactic of travelers everywhere: go to the places that have the longest lines.
▼ 120 drool-worthy lunches and dinners
Measuring 16 inches x 20 inches (40.64 cm x 50.8 cm), the Ramen Chart might be kind of big to pack in your suitcase when you travel to Japan, but it would be worth it for the sake of crossing all 25 off of this new addition to your bucket list.
Fanny’s also got a Japanese Snack Poster for those of us who don’t have enough food art already. Just don’t start licking the walls!
Though the Kickstarter for the Ramen Chart achieved its funding goal within just 5 hours, there are a lot of perks to becoming a backer for the campaign before it closes on August 27, 2016. Depending on the amount you choose to pay, you can receive up to 3 posters and a sweet thank you card. Fanny is also marking each print with her personal hanko stamp.
If you like Fanny’s artwork and would like to see more of her journeys through the culinary paradise that is Japanese cuisine, you can follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Maybe she’ll do one on onigiri next. Or tea. Or sushi. Or pan (bread). Or Japanese Kit Kats. Or….okay, any Japanese food would work, really!
