Ramen lovers in Japan will have something to be excited about this Friday, October 16. Popular ramen chain Hakata Ippudo is celebrating their 30th anniversary that day and will be offering complimentary bowls of ramen at 30 select locations. That’s right, we’re talking FREE RAMEN here, and come the 16th, we know there’ll be plenty of customers waiting for their bowl of steaming pork-broth noodles!
The well-established and now globally operating Ippudo chain opened their first restaurant exactly 30 years ago in 1985 in Fukuoka Prefecture, located on the southern island of Kyushu and an area known for tonkotsu ramen, which is made with rich pork broth.
To commemorate the anniversary, for one day only Ippudo is providing free bowls of their signature “shiromaru moto-aji” (white original flavor) and “akamaru shin-aji” (red new flavor) ramen. Now, there’s an offer that’s hard to refuse!
What makes the special campaign even more exciting is that these two flavors have been completely revamped for the anniversary, so customers will be able to taste the ramen with an all new noodle, broth, and chashu roast pork!
▼ The two revamped flavors that will be unveiled on October 16:
The free ramen will be available on October 16 in two sessions, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 30 Ippudo branches across Japan. There will be 300 free bowls provided for each session, and each customer will receive one bowl of ramen in the flavor of their choice (yes, we know it’ll be a difficult choice to make). You can even also have one free serving of kaedama (a refill of noodles to add to the soup)!
If you’re a ramen fan in Japan and interested in the offer, here’s a list of the Ippudo branches where they will be serving up the free bowls of noodles:
