Love beer? Love trains? Here’s your chance to combine the two for four special nights.
If you find yourself looking for somewhere to go drinking in Osaka this month, you might want to consider Nakanoshima Station. You may be wondering how you’re going to have fun at some random train station, but fear not! For four nights, a platform and train are going to turn into an izakaya (Japanese-style pub).
From June 22 to June 25, the 3rd platform at Keihan Nakanoshima Station is going to transform into a throwback izakaya. Tables and low dining tables will be set up along with irori (Japanese-style fireplaces) in order to set the mood for this trip down nostalgia lane.
▼ All aboard the time machine train!
Patrons will be able to order beer and sake along with oden, cup noodles and other popular food items from the Nakanoshima area. You’ll be able to enjoy them both on the platform and on the 2200 series train that will be parked there.
▼ Probably an artist’s rendering…
Entry will cost you only 1,000 yen (US$9.20) and that includes a drink ticket. But you’ll want to make sure you get there early in the evening, because this izakaya closes at 9:30 p.m. You and your friends can revel in the unique setting, but you can also check out the accompanying exhibit explaining the history and culture of Nakanoshima. You can bet we’ll be stopping by on one of the four days!
