Enjoy the taste of Kyoto with your Oreos for a limited time at McDonald’s.
Ever since 2014, McDonald’s Japan has been easing us into autumn with limited-edition matcha beverages as part of the annual Uji Matcha Series sold at their McCafe by Barista branches.
Now it’s time for the 2019 collection to make their grand debut, and this year the star of the range is an east-meets-west Frappe that combines earthy green tea from Kyoto with sweet, sweet Oreos.
▼ The Choco Matcha Frappe is available in a medium size for 490 yen (US$4.55) and a large for 530 yen.
The chocolatey matcha drink contains chocolate-flavoured whipped cream, couverture chocolate from Belgium, and a rich chocolate sauce. Milk and matcha are added to the mix, which is then finished off with a chocolate whipped cream swirl and Oreo cookie pieces on top.
Joining the Choco Matcha Frappe is a number of other green beverages, all containing the same high-quality Uji matcha sourced from Uji in Kyoto.
▼ The Matcha Latte Frappe retails for 450 yen for a medium and 490 yen for a large.
▼ The Iced Matcha Latte retails for 390 yen for a medium and 430 yen for a large.

The Uji Matcha Series drinks promise to deliver a delicious green tea pick-me-up for matcha fans, but they’ll only be available for a limited time at McDonald’s McCafe by Barista locations in Japan until mid-October.
