Extra-cute Animal Crossing kitchenware also on offer at Japan’s first-ever dedicated Nintendo store.
We’re just a few weeks away from the grand opening of Nintendo Tokyo, the company’s first-ever dedicated specialty shop in Japan. Though the shop is shaping up to be a love letter to all things Nintendo, certain franchises from the video game pioneer get more love than others, and the company has just given us an advance look at what sort of special Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokémon merch Nintendo Tokyo will be stocking.
Let’s start with the Zelda goodies, a sophisticated collection of faux leather and metallic fashion and stationery supplies, proudly emblazoned with the Triforce and other beautiful Zelda iconography.
At first glance, the coffee cup might see a little mundane, but take a close look at the above picture. See how the first heart is red, and the others are black? Experienced Zelda fans know that means that you’re near death, but you can revive yourself and replenish those hearts by pouring in coffee, tea, or whatever your life-restoring hot beverage of choice is, as shown in the video below.

2. Multi-color pen (1,500 yen)
3. Pen case (1,600 yen)
4. Mug (1,600 yen)
5. Smartphone cover (3,000 yen)
6. Zippered pouch (2,500 yen)
7. Hand towel (600 yen)
8. Key holders (1,000 yen each)
While there’s no Link cap or tunic for sale, Nintendo Tokyo does have plenty of contemporary Zelda apparel items and accessories, with the heart container pin and Hyrule royal crest neckties as particular standouts.
9. Zippered parka (7,500 yen)
10. Long-sleeved T-shirt (3,800 yen)
11. Short-sleeved T-shirt (3,500 yen)
12. Pins (700 yen each)
13. Tote bag (7,000 yen)
14. Rail pass case (2,000 yen)
15. Neckties (4,200 yen each)
But we also promised you Super Mario and Pokémon merch too, didn’t we? Often overlooked in the excitement for Nintendo Tokyo’s grand opening is that there’s also a brand-new Pokémon Center superstore coming to the very same building, and the two gamer-oriented stores have come up with an awesome crossover concept with the 8-bit Scramble line.
At first those might just seem like retro motifs showing Mario, Pikachu, and their costars rendered in charming old-school pixel art. But zooming in reveals…
…the Pokémon designs are actually made out of graphic tiles from Super Mario Bros., and vice-versa too!
▼ Yep, that’s Pikachu subbing for one of Mario’s overall buttons!
Nintendo Tokyo will be carrying the Super Mario x Pokémon 8-bit Scramble items (i.e. Pokémon made out of Mario), while the Pokémon x Super Mario 8-bit Scramble (Mario made out of Pokémon) stuff will be over at the Pokémon Center Shibuya store.
1. Can of cookies (1,200 yen)
2. Laminated character artwork (400 yen each)
3. Cushion (3,000 yen)
4. T-shirt (3,000 yen)
5. Mug (1,700 yen)
6. Clear file set (6 for 1,900 yen)

8. Smartphone case (3,000 yen)
9. Hand towel (600 yen)
10. Square towel (1,000 yen)
11. Backpack (7,200 yen)
If you’re a Nintendo fan, you might be thinking you’ve got some hard shopping decisions to make, what with the Zelda and 8-bit Scramble lines coming on the heels of the previous wave of unveiled Nintendo Tokyo merch. You’re only partially right, though, because the real difficulty comes not from choosing between those three groups of items, but also the just-announced Animal Crossing kitchenware lineup that Nintendo Tokyo will also have, to help you make your real-life home as pleasant a place to be as your in-game Animal Crossing one.
