It happened again! Yet another “large order” at McDonald’s has caused controversy on the Internet. This time, a group of young people in Korea gathered at their local McDonald’s restaurant and ordered an obscene amount of french fries. These kids could be described as mischievous or simply hungry, but either way the end result of their fry ordering rampage was a row of tables filled with greasy fried potatoes that cost 270,000 won (US$250) in total. After witnessing the mound of french fries in his store, a McDonald’s worker decided he had had enough of these shenanigans and told the kids, “Stop causing trouble, you brats! Get out of here!”
As it turns out, a majority of the Internet supports the McDonald’s worker’s harsh words.
As you can see in the picture above, each tray is loaded with more french fries than any one person should eat. Recent promotional sales at McDonald’s in Japan and Korea allow customers to purchase a large-size order of French fries for 150 yen (US$1.63), resulting in teenagers throwing french fry parties at McDonald’s. The only problem is that those who weren’t invited to the party are feeling a little angry.
And by a little angry, we actually mean furious. Not only do these hefty fry orders cause every other customer’s food to be delayed, the rambunctious teenagers smugly eating their fries disturb the other customers eating at the restaurant. In Japan alone there have been complaints to the McDonald’s corporate office ranging from annoyance to claims of unsanitary conditions as a result of these gatherings, as well as numerous pleas for the french fry discounts to stop.
People of the Internet, after seeing pictures like the one above, are also angered by these large fry orders:
“I’d cry if this happened in my local store.”
“Report this to McDonald’s headquarters! Upload those kids’ pictures online!”
“Those kids seriously need to leave. How annoying!”
“This is too much! They’re bothering all of the workers and customers!”
Certainly the huge pile of fries and the excitement it causes does hinder the “dining” experience for other customers, but is this situation as bad as everyone is making it out to be? Are these kids just having fun or are they being inconsiderate? RocketNews Nation, have you ever done anything like this? Let us know in the comments section below!
