It may be hard to believe, but it has been almost 17 years since Final Fantasy VII, arguably the most revered entry in Square Enix’s iconic RPG series, was first unleashed on the world. And in honour of the game’s impeding birthday, its creators have commissioned a series of ridiculously cute “chibi” figures for hardcore gamers and fans of all things cute alike to enjoy, with pre-orders already being taken months ahead of their release.
Featuring Tifa, Sephiroth, and of course lead hero Cloud, the tiny figures stand just 4.5-5 inches tall (the extra half an inch being taken up by Cloud’s plume of golden emo hair) and will go on sale for $29.99 each. Although orders are open now on Square Enix’s online store, the figures won’t actually be shipped until August this year, just before the game’s anniversary in North America.
Check out the figures in the photos below. We’re sure you’ll agree they’re pretty damn cute.
▼ Here’s Cloud looking more friendly than fighter
▼ Tifa as cute as ever
▼ And even Sephiroth with a little colour in his cheeks
We still have spring and part of summer to get through until these things are in our sweaty little palms, but knowing how passionate and dedicated Final Fantasy fans can be, those of you who are thinking about buying a couple would be wise to get an order in quickly before they’re all snapped up.
