With Valentine’s Day over and done with, White Day (14 March) is just around the corner. This is the day in Japan where men are obliged to return the gifts of Valentine’s Day chocolates to the women who gifted them, or else send a clear message that the feeling isn’t mutual by not bothering.

However, many guys have trouble choosing the right gifts for women, so Krispy Kreme Japan is holding a special workshop to teach an exclusive group of guys how to make romantic gifts out of their donuts.

This event is called the White Day Donuts Remake Lesson and is a part of Krispy Kreme Japan’s “Donuts Remake” series of lectures where they teach new ways to enjoy their pastries through creative decoration.

In this lesson on 6 March, food coordinator Ryoko Shimizu will teach guests how to make a “Parfait Tailored Donuts Necklace” and a “Ring Ring Donuts” which are sure to make any girl’s heart melt like a rich sugary glaze.

Unfortunately the application period for the White Day Donuts Remake Lesson has ended on 25 February. Among the applicants, only 10 men will be chosen by lottery and given the chance to learn about and sample these fancy donuts at the Shinetawa, Shibuya Krispy Kreme shop in Tokyo.

As for the rest of us who can’t get in, the donut chain has thrown us a bone and provided instructions on how to make the two treats on their website (link below). Also, we can be sure that more Donuts Remake sessions will be had. Just keep an eye on the Krispy Kreme Japan website for updates.

How to make a Caramel Nuts Ring

What you need: Original Glazed Donut, chocolate truffle, mixed nuts, mixed berries, orange peel, chocolate pen, silver dragees, ganache

1) Slice half of the the donut in half along the side.

2) Fill the sliced section with ganache and write a message on the front with a chocolate pen.

3) Slice the top off the chocolate truffle and add silver dragees. Then arrange the berries along the sliced section and fill in the gaps with nuts and orange peels. Finally top the fruit and nuts with a drizzle from the chocolate pen.

How to make a Berry Ring

What you need: Chocolate Chocolate Donut, strawberry, white chocolate covered dry strawberry, silver dragees, mint, raspberry jam, white chocolate pen

1) Slice along the side of half of the donut and line the inside with raspberry jam. Write a message on the top with the white chocolate pen.

2) Cut a strawberry into quarters.

3) Cut about a centimeter off the tip of the white chocolate covered dry strawberry and place silver dragees on it. Then place two quarters of the strawberry on each side of it pointing outwards and place mint leaves in between.

How to make a Parfait Tailored Donut Necklace

What you need: Original Glazed Donut, vanilla ice cream, banana, strawberries, blueberries, boules de neige (cookies), silver dragees, white chocolate pen, mint, ribbon

1) Remove the green part of the strawberries, cut a V shape in the top and slice into four pieces to make hearts.

2) Slice half of the donut along the side and insert slices of banana. In the donut’s hole put some vanilla ice cream followed by four strawberry hearts, three blueberries, banana slices and a mint leaf. Write the woman’s initial with the white chocolate pen, then go over the lines with silver dragees.

3) Position the donut in the bottom center of the plate. At the top center symmetrically arrange a boule de neige and eight strawberry hearts. Then begin to line the necklace chain using five blueberries and fill any remaining space with boules de neige. Finally place the ribbon in the top center.
