For serious cat lovers, it’s hard to be apart from their beloved animals for even a moment, but there are some places, like offices or restaurants, where you just can’t take your pet with you. If you’re looking for a way to always feel connected to your kitty, we suppose you could make a sweater out of its fallen hair, but before you grab those knitting needles, there’s an alternative that’s a little less labor-intensive (not to mention a bit less crazy).
All you need to do is snap a photo of your cat, and have it made into a pair of custom-crafted earrings from this Japanese online store.
Each pair is made to order by Leo the Cat Gallery, an online accessory shop whose artisan’s passions are fashion and felines. Snap a picture and attach it to the order form, and Leo can create earrings bearing your pet’s likeness in four basic categories, with the least expensive being the Head Only type which costs 2,100 yen (US$20.80) for a pair.
On the other hand, if your kitty’s cuteness isn’t limited to its face, an additional 500 yen will get you a pair of 2,600-yen Full Body earrings.
If you’re looking for something that’s simultaneously more understated and playful, the I Spotted My Kitty earrings, also for 2,600 yen feature just a plain stud facing outward, with your cat peeking out from behind your earlobes.
Finally, for the maximum visual impact, there’s the top-of-the-line My Kitty’s Hanging On earrings for 3,000 yen.
After sending in your cat’s photo, Leo will draw up three different designs, based on your requests such as colors you prefer or additional accouterments you’d like. For customers with gold allergies, earrings made with plastic resin parts are also available.
As sure as these accessories are to put a smile on cat lovers’ faces, sadly Leo’s backlog is full for the month of August, so you’ll have to wait until September at the earliest before the shop starts taking orders again. You can check in on the Leo website here, and in the meantime, please resist the urge to actually hang your cat from your ears, since it’ll just be painful for you and annoying for the animal.
