U.K. newspaper The Guardian published an article on Tuesday where it stated that it “[has] it on good authority” that Sony will display The Last Guardian game at this year’s E3 trade fair.
Since Sony first revealed the game in 2009, the game has undergone numerous delays in production. Game director Fumito Ueda announced his departure as a full-time Sonyemployee in December 2011, though later confirmed that the game was still under his creative supervision in 2013. Scott Rohde, the PlayStation software product development head for Sony Worldwide Studios America confirmed last June that the game had not been cancelled. SonyWorldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida stated in the same month that they (Sony) “really don’t want to release piecemeal information until we can say this is The Last Guardian – so we ask you to wait.”
In its 2009 announcement, Sony originally slated The Last Guardian for a 2011 release, but since failing to release it on that year, it has not specified a new release date for the game.
The Entertainment Software Association will hold this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade fair from June 16 to June 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
