Kit Kats with tasty fruit and nut toppings? What more could you want?
Okay, so you may have noticed that Kit Kats are one of our favorite subjects. We were there when they opened the first Kit Kat Chocolatory shop in Japan — the world’s very first Kit Kat specialty store, no less — and since then, we’ve introduced some of the more interesting items they’ve offered, from butter-flavored Kit Kats to Kit Kats encased in actual gold.
Now, they’re coming out with something that may not be as flashy as golden Kit Kats but looks far more tasty — Kit Kats topped with clusters of nuts and fruits!
The product, which they’ve named the “Kit Kat Chocoaltory Moleson“, is based on the popular European “mendiant” confection, which consists of chocolate discs decorated with nuts and dried fruits, and has the distinction of being the first Kit Kat ever made with toppings on it. This latest item to join the Chocolatory’s line-up is made with their signature “Chocolatory Kit Kat Sublime Milk” as the base with a generous sprinkling of cranberries and almonds on top. It’s easy enough to imagine that the sour tang of the cranberries and the smooth sweetness of the chocolate, along with the crunchy texture of the almonds, should make for a delightful combination. And to ensure that it all looks beautiful as well, the toppings are placed on each Kit Kat by hand!
▼ Each Kit Kat also comes individually packaged in a custom box.
The Kit Kat Chocolatory Moleson will be available for 500 yen (US$4.22) a piece at the three Kit Kat Chocolatory shops in Tokyo (the Seibu Ikebukuro, Daimaru Tokyo and Shinjuku Takashimaya stores) and through the LOHACO online shop from February 5. We guess that means there’ll be one more treat out there to tempt us for Valentine’s Day, but this is one temptation we plan to give into!
