Sailor Moon fans can look forward to an exciting treat in the coming months — an art exhibit in the fashionable Roppongi district of Tokyo!
Yes, you’ll get to see the lovely Sailor Guardians in the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Exhibition at the Tokyo City View Observation Deck’s Sky Gallery, located in the Roppongi Hills Shopping Complex. The international hit anime and comic created by Naoko Takeuchi has a devoted fan base even today, nearly 25 years after first appearing in Nakayoshi Magazine in 1992, with the third season of the newly animated Sailor Moon Crystal series set to air later this spring.
The exhibit, which is set to run from April 16 to June 19, will feature numerous pieces of original Sailor Moon art by Takeuchi, including some pieces newly created specifically for this event. To add to the atmosphere, the entrance to the exhibit area will be decorated the style of the Moon Castle, the home of the anime’s lunar royal family, and other memorabilia and artwork from the series will be displayed throughout the exhibit. It should also delight fans that the Azabu Juban neighborhood, in which Sailor Moon’s story is set, is visible from the Tokyo City View Observation Deck.
Additionally, the cafe area in the Museum Cafe & Restaurant THE SUN & THE MOON will be offering special Sailor Moon-themed sweets and foods, allowing visitors to not only see but also taste the world of Sailor Moon.
Information on advance tickets, which will come with a bonus gift, is scheduled to be announced around the end of February, and we have a feeling that many fans will be waiting to get their hands on them. If you’re a fan of Sailor Moon, the exhibit should be a great opportunity to get a close look at Takeuchi’s beautiful artwork, plus Roppongi Hills offers great shopping, dining, and a great view of Tokyo landmarks, including Tokyo Tower, so there should be plenty to enjoy. So, those of you who will be in Tokyo between April and June, you may want to make plans to visit the exhibit, or be prepared to be punished in the name of the moon!
