fud

Enjoy new treats like a herring pie from Kiki’s Delivery Service or a sweet icy treat inspired by Castle in the Sky.

The Ghibli exhibit is still going on at Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills, and the attached cafe continues to deliver tasty and creative Ghibli-themed eats. If you haven’t yet made a visit, here are three new menu items to tempt you!

pie

The first new item is a herring and kabocha pie, the same you can see in Kiki’s Delivery Service. The savory Pacific herring is balanced with sweet Japanese kabocha pumpkin, and accented with broccoli, bacon, cheese, and a creamy white sauce. The crust is decorated with a cute fish design, just like in the movie. The pies are limited to just 50 per day and cost 1,480 yen (US$14.60).

shave ice

Next on the menu is a refreshing Laputa shaved-ice dessert, flavored with lemon and melon syrups, for 900 yen ($8.90). The mound is then topped with popping candy and a dollop of jewel-like blue Hawaiian jelly on top, resembling the heroine Sheeta’s crystal amulet.

drop drink

Finally, we have a fun and fruity drink made with tonic and blood orange juice, and flavored with mint. The drink is finished off with gummy candies that resemble hard candy fruit drops like the ones you’ll likely recognize from Grave of the Fireflies. The colorful refreshment costs 650 yen ($6.40).

The exhibit and cafe will only be around until September 11, so don’t miss your chance to experience and eat!
