It’s the closest thing yet to a green tea-flavoured Lindor ball.

Hot on the heels of the sakura-flavoured Lindt beverage released earlier this month comes the confectioner’s White Chocolate Matcha Iced Drink, which blends the signature rich flavour of Lindt Swiss chocolate with the mellow bitterness of powdered green tea.

▼ The iced drink will be available for take-away in plastic cups from Lindt stores around the country for 772 yen (US$7).

18The colour of the drink matches the fresh verdure of spring, referred to in Japanese as shinryoku (literally “new green”). Touted as having the rich flavour and aroma of matcha, the limited-edition drink is topped with light and airy whipped cream and finished off with shavings of white chocolate and crunchy green tea biscuit pieces.

Visitors to the Lindt cafes in Ginza and Jiyugaoka can dine in to enjoy the drink in a tall glass, with customers at the Ginza store receiving an exclusive topping of azuki red beans to add an extra dimension of traditional Japanese flavour to the experience for 1,388 yen. Both drinks will be available to purchase from 13 April to 14 June.
