Bring some Ghibli magic into the kitchen with Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle and the famous fish pie from Kiki’s Delivery Service.
While the Ghibli Museum remains closed until its 16 July grand re-opening, fans of Studio Ghibli anime films can still stock up on cute character goods at Donguri Kyowakoku stores around Japan. This summer, the retail chain will be delighting fans with two new items for the kitchen, in familiar shapes fans will recognise from two of the animation studio’s most popular films.
The “Kiki’s Delivery Service Herring Pie Silicon Steamer” retails for 2,800 yen (US$27.51) plus tax and will be available at stores from the end of July. Designed to be used in the microwave, the steamer can be used to make all sorts of dishes, including vegetables, cakes, fish or meat stews and casseroles, and even the same herring pie made by the characters in the film.
The new cookware series also features a character from the movie Howl’s Moving Castle. Calcifer, the fire demon that Sophie cooks upon, is ready to help you with your meals too, with a silicon steamer of his very own.
Measuring 14.5 centimetres (5.7 inches) wide and 12 centimetres (4.7 inches) high, the 270-millilitre (9 fluid-ounce) capacity dish is made from silicon and retails for 2,800 yen plus tax.
With dishes as cute as these, it’s time to get cooking!
