While the world searches for the elusive Pokémon in the game, Ditto has transformed himself into a giant pillow for fans in Japan.
Pokémon Go players around the world have been scratching their heads over one particular creature that should be in the game but remains yet to be found: the elusive Ditto. In fact, other than Legendary Pokémon, this is the one monster that nobody has discovered yet, and with its inherent ability to transform into other Pokémon, countless theories have been popping up, suggesting he might be an Easter Egg within the game, or perhaps even South America’s region-exclusive character.
While we wait to see where he might turn up in the game, in the real world, he’ll be arriving in Japan this week, in the form of a giant, squishy, stretchable pillow. Exclusive to the Pokémon Center online store, the product is said to be the biggest Ditto character they’ve ever produced, measuring 43 centimetres (17 inches) in height and 65 centimetres (25.5 inches) in width, which is several times larger than their previous Big Ditto plush toy character release.
▼ Going by his Japanese name, Metamon, Ditto appears as the “Ultra Big Size Metamon Springy Plush Toy”, and is much larger than the previously released “Big Size Soundly Sleeping Metamon Plush Toy”
Despite being categorised as a plush toy, the smooth material and springy texture of the blob-like Pokémon gives the product a malleable texture, which makes it perfect for use as a soft cushion or huggable body pillow.
In fact, Ditto can stretch out significantly, thanks to an elastic fabric that’s 13 times finer than regular cotton material.
The cute pillow weighs a hefty 3.7 kilos (8.2 pounds), and retails for 13,000 yen (US$127). Fans will be able to catch the giant-sized squishy Ditto exclusively from the Pokémon Center online store from 6 August.
