Buff blade boys and sexy Squirtle catch the eyes of attendees at Japan’s biggest otaku event.

We rolled up to Tokyo Big Sight last Friday with every intention of photographing each and every amazing cosplay outfit at this year’s summer Comiket. But Comiket is the world’s largest, most enthusiastic gathering of anime art enthusiasts on the planet, and runs for three solid days, so even our roving cameraman couldn’t catch all of the cool costumes just on opening day.

Thankfully, the members of the cosplay community are an expressive lot, so let’s take a look at the best of the rest of this summer’s Comiket costumes.

Since our last photo collection was heavy on the cheesecake, this time we’ll start off with some beefcake, with this extremely fit quintet of Token Rambu blade boys.

But even with this gritty machismo on display, Comiket still had room for fresh-faced buxom beauties, like Love Live! Sunshine’s Kanan.

While we’re on the subject of the Love Live! franchise, the original series’ Honoka, Kotori, and Maki still have plenty of fans, despite their storylines being officially concluded.

If we’re talking about evergreen hits, a pair of KanColle cuties will always draw a crowd.

And now, back to biceps with Resident Evil’s Chris.

Of course, Pokémon GO made its presence felt at Comiket. The title hasn’t just changed how people play games, it’s changed how fans of the series cosplay, with the PokeStop and Gym markers making their costumed debuts.

The mobile game’s Pokémon Trainer avatar is both a simple and practical cosplay option.

At any gathering of cosplayers, you can expect “sexy” versions of popular characters, such as the Squirtle and Pikachu seen below.

Kuma Miko’s anime ending was pretty controversial, and this cosplay of the series’ two main characters is also probably a love-it-or-hate-it sort of thing.

On the other hand, we have no idea what sort of facial hair, if any, is happening inside this Gundam.

Speaking of venerable robot franchises, here’s rock star/mecha jock Macross 7’s Basara, striking a pose in hopes that it’ll encourage people to stop and listen to his song.

…along come this guy with Bennet cosplay, including props to help him recreate the most famous scenes involving the villain of the 1985 Schwarzenegger action classic Commando.

It’s actually a little surprising he didn’t bring a smoke bomb to stick inside that pipe, but still, we don’t think you’ll find a truer example of what it means to be a “fan” than this.
