Because big kitties need love too.
For the last year and a half, Japan’s Uni Habitat has been helping cats and their owners stay close to one another with its Mewgaroo Hoodie (called the Nyangaroo Parka in Japanese), a hooded sweatshirt with a pouch on the front for the pet to curl up in. But big kitties can be just as huggable as little ones, which is why Uni Habitat is back again with its brand-new Large Pocket Mewgaroo Hoodie.
The overall design doesn’t differ much from the standard-size version, but the front pocket has been enlarged from six liters (1.6 gallons) to 12 in holding capacity in order to accommodate larger felines.
▼ Or to facilitate larger shopping runs, if you’re looking for a very unique alternative to plastic grocery store bags.
In addition, internal shoulder straps have been added to give the human wearer more support in handling the weight of the hoodie’s second occupant.
The pouch is outfitted with an extra-soft liner so as to be extra comfy for your cat, and you can pull the whole thing out for easy cleaning when your pet no doubt leaves a few hairs behind.
The Large Pocket Mewgaroo Hoodie even looks cute sans kitty, thanks to the ears on the hood and paw pattern on the cuffs.
The sweatshirt is available in gray or navy, with its mottled material helping to hide cat hair. Although the Large Pocket Mewgaroo Hoodie is officially priced at 8,000 yen (US$78) on Uni Habitat’s website, it can be ordered at deep discounts domestically from Amazon Japan, Animate, and Village Vanguard for just 6,480 yen.
