Can’t decide what’s for lunch? Why not have it all!
It generally seems to be the case that when you’re looking for a bargain, you’re going to have to sacrifice quality. You want something that’s high-quality? You’re going to have to fork over more cash for it. This is especially true when it comes to food.
However, our Japanese-language writer Ahiru Neko recently discovered a special gem tucked away in a quiet Tokyo neighborhood – a restaurant with an all-you-can-eat Asian lunch buffet for a price that’s hard to beat. The restaurant, Asian Palm, offers a variety of foods from a number of different countries, plus drinks and desserts for only 1000 yen (US$9), including tax!
Asian Palm is located in the stylish Kagurazaka area of Tokyo, just a few minutes’ walk from the Ushigome Kagurazaka subway station. The area has a chic feel, yet without the crowds and bustle that you would find in Roppongi or Ginza.
From the outside, the restaurant itself looks deceptively high-priced, but as their lunch special is advertised right out front it’s difficult to miss the bargain.
Once you’re seated, your 90-minute buffet bonanza begins!
▼ There are spicy Thai and green salads…
▼ …Indian chicken curry…
▼ …Thai coconut curry…
▼ …Thai fried rice…
▼ …stir-fried veggies, stir-fried noodles…
▼ …naan that’s bigger than your hand…
▼ …tandoori chicken, and more!
With a little bit of everything, and a big helping of freshly baked naan, you are ready to take your taste buds on a quick multi-country getaway, all while you sit comfortably at your table.
Ahiru Neko found everything to taste excellent, almost as if three specialty restaurants have gathered in one place to present their best dishes.
If you head over to Asian Palm’s other location in Shibuya-Honcho, there is no time-limit on the buffet. Ahiru Neko filled up well before the 90 minutes were up, so how anyone could continue eating beyond that time is a mystery, but if you’re up for the challenge it’s there. And no matter which location you go to, you’re sure to get a satisfying feast without putting much of a dent in your wallet!
