Is your cuddly toy collection lacking a little heroism? Is your troupe of Hello Kitties, freaky mushrooms and squeezable squid in need of a genuine princess? Well you’re in luck: a series of plushies featuring Princess Zelda, sword-brandishing Link and creepy wannabe elf Tingle from Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series is due to go on sale early next year.
Available by “mid-Feb 2014”, these would undoubtedly make great gifts for game-loving couples this coming Valentine’s Day, though gifting someone a Tingle doll might not be the best display of affection…
Based on the cel-shaded graphic style of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the plushies look decidedly cute and anime. They are approximately 16 cm tall and are set to retail for around 1,500 yen (US$15) each from online stores like AmiAmi. There will also be a larger, 22-cm version of Link, which will cost around 2,500 yen.
Orders are being taken now, and the net is currently all abuzz with news of the cute Zelda cuddlies, so if you want one you’d better be quick.
Not meaning to brag or anything, but we happen to have a Link plushie of our own that’s been sitting around for a couple of years now… Perhaps with the recent HD remake of Wind Waker and new 3DS title A Link Between Worlds, makers San-ei Boeki decided it was time to pump out another batch?
