It’s like the saying goes: When life hands you a lobster, make a Psycommu-system-equipped mobile suit with it.
At this point in the Mobile Suit Gundam-model-making scene, the bar is set pretty high. Builders have already pushed the limits of what can be accomplished, such as using brilliant paint jobs that can make a true 3D image look exactly like a 2D scene from the anime.
This means up and coming artists will have to think even further outside the box, and that’s just what the little brother of Niconico user Nurezokin (Wet Rag) did. Going way out of the box and into the ocean, he used the discarded remains of a boiled lobster and crafted his own MSN-04 Sazabi as piloted by Char Aznable in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
The video shows the various stages of the mobile suit’s creation starting with the boiling.
The boiling gave the shell a bright red hue, in keeping with the Sazabi’s color scheme. Nurezokin’s brother used a plastic HG Sazabi model for comparison while trimming around the edges of the shell fragments to make compatible shapes.
On the other hand some parts came more naturally ready than others.
As he went, he used wire to hold the pieces together and some clay to fill in the spaces.
Although it wasn’t shown, we have to assume the Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactor was built and installed in this fashion as well. Nevertheless, when all was said and done, it was time to reveal the finished suit.
Looking good, and Niconico viewers were equally impressed, leaving a flood of comments like “You did a hell of a good job,” “Very organic!” and, of course, “Awesome!”
And with the door open for future seafood war machines, we may see an MS-06 Zaku II made from a horseshoe crab or – dare I dream – maybe even an AMS-129 Geara Zulu fashioned from a giant isopod!
