When you’re trying to cut back on screen time but still need some Nintendo fun in your life.
In this digital day and age, traditional board games, card games, and the like often take a back seat to other more technology-centered forms of entertainment. But every so often, it is nice to unplug and gather around the table with friends and family for a good old-fashioned game night. I don’t know about the rest of you, but UNO was a staple for me growing up, and is still a top choice for me and my friends.
While it’s hard to improve on classics like UNO, this Super Mario version that was released for sale in Japan this month might be the exception.
The game even includes two original cards for the Mario version, including the “White Mario”, which allows you to write in your own rule which, when done with pencil, can be erased and changed for each new game.
For those times when you don’t have a card in your hand that you can play, there is also the “Invincible Mario”, which allows you to bounce back to the player before you, giving you the opportunity to change things up in a pinch.
While the card game retails for 1,200 yen (US$11.80) normally, you can find it on Amazon Japan now for 954 yen ($9.40), plus they offer international shipping.
If you’re mid-rainy season now, as we are here in Japan, having this special deck of UNO cards would be a great thing to have around!
