The cute swimming outfit from the series has walked out of the anime and into our real-life world!
High School Fleet, an anime about a ship full of high school students, has become so popular in Japan it was recently voted the number one marine-themed series that anime lovers wanted to watch during summer. Now the popular swimming costume worn by the stars of the series, the animated students of Yokosuka Girls’ Marine High School, is available to wear in real life, with all the same gorgeous details that appear on-screen.
Misaki Akeno, the main heroine and captain of the girls’ destroyer ship, Harekaze, is one of the characters who can be seen wearing the costume in the series, which aired in Japan from April to June this year. As the girls are all aiming to become Blue Mermaids, or female Marines, their blue-and-white one-pieces make a memorable appearance within an action-packed storyline filled with storms, wrongful accusations of mutiny, and encounters with enemy ships.
Cospa, one of Japan’s most popular retailers of anime merchandise, is selling the Yokosuka Girls’ Marine High School swimming costumes for 14,040 yen (US$135) each.
▼ Built-in bra cups help add shape, while the front of each swimming costume comes complete with the school’s round emblem.
At the beginning of November, the company will also be releasing the school’s jersey top for 14,040 yen, which can be worn with the swimming costume, just like the characters in the series do.
With sales of the swimming costume limited to 100 pieces per size, this looks set to become one of the most sought-after items at the Cospa online store. While the company has official distributors in Singapore, Spain and the U.S., they’re yet to offer international delivery, so if you’re visiting Japan, you can check out their range at Cospa stores around the country.
