Mickey and Minnie have been turned into sweet Japanese confections this winter, and one thing’s for sure: they’re way too adorable!
Toy maker Bandai’s “Candy Operation Department” has recently added two new irresistibly cute creations to their Tabemasu (short for Teberareru Mascot, meaning “edible mascot“) snack series, a unique line of traditional Japanese confections (wagashi) based on various popular characters. That’s right, Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be available as darling little Japanese sweets filled with two kinds of sweet bean paste. And you’ll just have to see for yourself how intricately they’ve recreated the beloved Disney characters.
▼ Here’s the Tabemasu Disney Mickey Mouse …
▼ … and the Tabemasu Disney Minnie Mouse. Now, if that’s not totally adorable, we don’t know what is!
▼ Yup, and they look just as sweet from above. Check out that little tail!
The beautiful confections are made from what is called nerikiri, material commonly used in traditional Japanese sweets made from ingredients such as sweet bean paste, sugar and sticky rice flour (mochiko).
And there’s even more sweetness hidden inside the confections too! The Mickey version is filled with dark molasses-flavored sweet bean paste, while the Minnie version contains strawberry-flavored sweet bean paste.
▼ And here’s the package they’ll come in.
The Mickey and Minnie Tabemasu confections are available for pre-order until December 1 at a price of 250 yen (US$2.40) each through the Omni 7 website’s Seven-Eleven online shopping service, with delivery scheduled between December 15 and 17. You’ll also be able to buy these sweet critters at Seven-Eleven convenience stores across Japan between December 22 and 24, which should be perfect if you want to celebrate the holiday season with an edible Mickey and Minnie, because they certainly look festive enough, and a little Disney magic definitely makes celebrations more fun, right?
