Kyoto Police nearly close the case on one of Kyoto’s more disgusting crime sprees.
At approximately midnight on 23 July a woman in her twenties was walking past a parking lot in the Fushimi Ward of Kyoto City, when a man sitting inside his car called out to her, “Could you help me fix my brakes?”
A seemingly innocuous request which the woman obliged, and as the man instructed she climbed into the driver’s seat and began pumping the brake pedal. However, the man suddenly climbed into the driver’s seat floor, removed the woman’s sandals and began licking the soles of her feet – an act that would go on for the next 30 minutes.
Perhaps in shock at what had just happened or out of fear that the man may have a weapon, the woman did not fight back. She did, however, take the opportunity of the man’s preoccupation to get out her smartphone and begin recording the assault.
When he had finally finished, the man said “thank you” and let her go. On her way out the victim also took note of the man’s license plate number. These pieces of evidence would prove invaluable when she reported the incident to Kyoto Prefectural Police.
On 7 November police announced the arrest of a 56-year-old part-time worker suspected of the assault. They also revealed that the man is believed to be connected to six other reported incidents of foot licking assault against women in their twenties that have taken place in the Fushimi area since 2012. They even gave the perverted perpetrator the nickname of “foot-licking man” proving that the Kyoto Police don’t waste time thinking up overly complicated nicknames.
The suspect reportedly denies the charges, saying he “doesn’t remember” committing the crimes. If he is telling the truth, then it adds a whole other layer of bizarreness to this series of attacks.
The lesson of this story is clear: women, don’t talk to strange men on the street in the middle of the night… In fact, just don’t talk to men at all. If this suspect is the kind of people we’re producing these days, maybe we ought to skip a generation of procreation until we sort things out.
