Cold Stone is offering a heartwarmingly sweet holiday deal.
With a huge variety of appealing flavors both traditional and inventive, Cold Stone’s ice cream is just about universally loved. If there’s one drawback, though, it’s that the chain’s treats are a bit on the pricy side, starting at 500 yen (US$4.40) here in Japan.
But Cold Stone seems to have become overwhelmed with holiday generosity, as right now it’s holding a promotion it calls the Cold Stone Buffet. Available at select locations in Japan, 1,480 yen gets you all the ice cream you can eat, of whatever flavors you’d like, for 40 minutes on December 15 or 16 (the deal also includes a cup of tea, for customers who don’t completely max out their stomach capacities chowing down on sweets).
A bit of simple math tells us that three scoops is the threshold for coming out ahead here, which doesn’t seem like such a high hurdle to clear when there are so many tantalizing varieties of ice cream to choose from.
In Tokyo, the buffet is being offered at Cold Stone’s Tokyo Skytree Solamachi, Ikebukuro Sunshine City, Minami Machida Grandberry Mall, and Lalaport Tokyo Bay branches. Outside of the capital, all-you-can-eat ice cream can be had at the Cold Stones at Yokohama Landmark Tower (Kanagawa Prefecture), Koshigaya Aeon Lake Town (Saitama), Cocoon City (Saitama), Canal City Hakata (Fukuoka), Toki Premium Outlet (Gifu), Mitsui Outlet Park Jazz Dream Nagashima (Mie), and Nasu Garden Outlet (Tochigi).
Reservations can’t be made ahead of time, so availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers can start their 40-minute Cold Stone Buffet at any time between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., which means if you arrive early, you should be able to reap those ice-cream-for-breakfast mental health benefits.
