Mario can handle goombas and koopas, but what about cops and gangsters in the “real” world?
News about the Nintendo Switch has been pouring in recently, and one title for the console that has everyone excited is Super Mario Odyssey. It’s a 3-D Mario game in the same style as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, but instead of taking place in the Mushroom Kingdom, it has locations inspired by real-world settings.
▼ The first part of this official video shows Mario jumping
around in New Donk City, inspired by New York City.
I don’t know about you, but seeing Mario running around a city with taxis and skyscrapers is both exciting and discomforting at the same time. I’m anxious to see where it all goes, but at the same time it kind of feels like Mario Grand Theft Auto.
And that’s exactly what YouTuber CrowbCat thought when they created this video, showing what type of horrible hijinx Mario may get up to in this new odyssey of his.

Obviously these aren’t from the real Super Mario Odyssey game, they’re from a modded version of Grand Theft Auto IV. But still, if the Switch’s price turns off too many people and Nintendo ever gets desperate for money, I think that this video might be on to something that could prove hilariously profitable.
