The clock, made by a Chinese TikTok user, lights up and contains intricate overlays of Luffy, his friends and the emblematic anime ship.
Since its inception in 1997, One Piece has held strong; forget king of the pirates, this franchise is far and away the king of manga in Japan, only occasionally wavering from the top of best-sellers’ lists with an enthusiastic response for each and every new volume released. Author Eiichiro Oda lives an incredibly intense and One Piece-focused lifestyle, and his fans are passionately devoted to the slowly evolving visages of the varied and multi-national Straw Hat pirate gang.
The dedication of One Piece fans has resulted in some mindblowing art, cool crossovers and even cuisine straight out of the comic’s own cookery book. But one fan had the time set aside to make something extra special…
https://twitter.com/xSnakePrincess/status/1081575400868765696The video includes an embed from @1930来的小阿呆(橡皮章接单), a Chinese TikTok user. In the video we see their extremely detailed knife-work as they carve out layer after layer of lush scenery, followed by the ship and the cast.
Once all of the pieces have been sliced into a perfect filigree, the clock mechanisms are hooked into place through the largest hole at the top of the piece. Separate layers are wired with small lights, which give a pleasant sunset glow once the switch is flipped.
Once everything has been sandwiched together with glue and propped up, it creates this stunning silhouette of the main characters, standing on the shore, looking on at their docked ship the Going Merry.
The whole fascinating procedure is scored with the series’ 16th opening theme, Hands Up! by Kota Shinzato.

The video seems to have made a big impact among fans, who got particularly emotional over the light-up reveal at the end.
“When the lights came on, my heart swelled with emotion!”
“Even if you sold those for 50,000 yen (US$462.38) apiece, tons of people would still buy them.”
“THIS is how you’re supposed to use TikTok.”
“The second I started to wonder “Are they gonna paint the colors in?” the end got me good (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑)✧”
Motivated to make your own amazing light-up clock now? Well, we can’t provide a step-by-step guide to something this complex and detailed, but if you have an old PlayStation lying around you can make something almost as cool.
