Did you know that Peanuts is almost 65 years old? Yup, the much-loved comic strip featuring the mini adventures of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Woodstock is celebrating its 65th birthday on October 2 this year! It’s the perfect opportunity to indulge in a little nostalgia over one of America’s favourite cartoon series.
In Japan, Snoopy is part of a menagerie of cute animal characters (including Elmo, Minnie Mouse, Jack Skellington, Moomins, Miffy, and Marie from the Aristocats) who were originally foreign creations yet have been seen decorating kyara-goods aimed at Japanese tween girls in recent years. Peanuts, and Snoopy in particular, are therefore pretty well-known in Japan, so the brand-new Peanuts Cafe due to open this year is bound to be a big hit!
While we mentioned that Snoopy is a popular cute characters for young girls and women in particular, the cafe itself is a fairly sophisticated venture. The Peanuts Cafe is based around the theme of “the American west coast” and aims to create a rustic, relaxing atmosphere which, naturally, will feature characters from the series as part of its motif. Walls are covered with old Peanuts comic strips, and the menu is completely Peanuts-themed.
Examples of the planned menu include the “Goose Eggs Sliders”, a plate with four filled buns which are meant to represent the four “Goose Egg” characters who make up a baseball team which Charlie Brown coaches in the original strip.

Also in the works are the “Beagle Scout S’Mores” which are meant to evoke images of Charlie Brown’s childhood cook-outs. It looks absolutely delicious, too, featuring a skillet with toasted marshmallows which comes with crackers and a pot of melted chocolate.
▼ The “Beagles Scout S’Mores” menu option.
The menu will also feature a variety of sandwiches based around each character, and milkshakes with—you guessed it—peanut butter, as well as Snoopy’s favourite cookies in the form of the Peanut Butter Milkshake and Chocolate Chip Milkshake.
▼ These milkshakes look like something out of a ’50s movie. Slurp!
All of the plates, napkins, and cutlery fits with the Snoopy motif, and the rustic tables add to the Americana theme. The cafe will also sell to-go snacks like Peanuts-themed cookies, as well as T-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and other memorabilia. We can’t wait to drop in to pick up some goodies when it finally opens on the anniversary of the series’ birthday on October 2!
▼ The cookies look almost too cute to eat! Totally Instagram-worthy!
