Sad to see Puella Maji Madoka Magica end? Well, dry your eyes! A concept film unveiled last week has sparked speculation about possible new material!
A short concept film featuring a new Puella Magi Madoka Magica story was revealed last week as part of the ~Shaft 40th Anniversary~ MADOGATARI Exhibition in Akihabara, Tokyo, which kicked off on November 27.
Although the last official release of the award-winning series was in 2013 with Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part Three: Rebellion, plans were made to continue the series, and this movie could be the first of other additional new projects.
Most of the original cast, as well as series director Yukihiro Miyamoto, returned for the concept film’s production, with new music by Yuki Kajiura.
While the short caught many anime fans off-guard, reactions to other instances of “possible new material” have been mixed, with some fans feeling a little franchised out.
For those curious about viewing the concept film themselves, the exhibition will wrap up in Tokyo next week before moving to Osaka and then finally on to Sapporo. Each venue will also have tie-in items available for purchase.
