We’ll show you how to put on a dolphin show without having to jump through hoops.
Do you have an unreasonable love for cute food decorations but, like myself, also have zero cooking talent? Do your apple swans end up looking like apple disasters? Or do your Rilakkuma cookies turn into something out of a sugar-coated nightmare?
Well fret no longer because Japanese Twitter user @TrinityNYC has the easy-peasy food decoration we’ve been searching for: banana dolphins.
▼ “A friend made these for a five-year-old’s birthday party. They’re easy to make and so cute! What a good idea that kids will love.”

Oh yes, you’re seeing that correctly – banana dolphins swimming in a clear cup full of grapes, strawberries, and blueberries, plus a grape “ball” in their mouths. If that doesn’t get people excited to eat some fruit, nothing will.
But that got us thinking. A lot of the cool food stuff we usually see, like sushi burgers or LEGO pizza, require quite a bit of work to make. But these banana dolphins actually looked easy enough for even someone as culinary-challenged as myself.
So I decided to give it a try. Feel free to follow along at home and impress all of your friends and family at your next dolphin-based get-together.
▼ Things you’ll need: banana, clear cup, marking pen, scissors/knife,
and an assortment of small, round delicious fruits.
▼ Step 1: Use the scissors/knife to cut the stem of the banana open.
▼ Step 2: Cut the bottom 1/3 of the banana off using the scissors/knife.
▼ Step 3: Put a few fruits in the cup, then place the banana inside.
▼ Step 4: Fill up the rest of the cup with fruits to keep the banana stable. I liked using blueberries since they look like water.
▼ Step 5: Give your dolphin a drawn-on eyeball on either side. You could go
with just a dot, or get fancy like I did. Say hello to EEEeeEEEeeE-chan.
▼ D’aww, she’s so cute! Look at that little grape ball she has.
I wonder what it would look like with a cherry….
▼ Today is the proudest day of my life.
Honestly I was shocked by how easy it was to make my very own banana dolphin. They’re perfect for birthdays, adult field trips to the aquarium, and for those days when you just need to feel like a shark by ripping apart a dolphin.
Ready to have your friends squeaking with joy? Just follow the above steps and you dolphin-ately will!
