From cakes to rice rolls, these delicious looking food items inspired by popular mascot cat Nyaran are almost too cute to eat!
In a special collaboration, the shops located in the food section on the B1 floor of the Daimaru Umeda Department Store in Osaka will be offering delightful treats modeled after Nyaran, the lovable mascot cat of the Japanese travel magazine and website Jalan. And we have to say, the selection is quite impressive!
▼ From the Country Ma’am Factory we have the Nyaran Cheese Tart (pictured left) priced at 800 yen (US$7.20), featuring an illustration of Nyaran created with cocoa powder, On the right, we have Nyaran doughnuts which will be sold at 2,160 yen for a box of five.
▼ More Nyaran cakes! From Cake House Shotani, the “cat paw” bun (left) filled with strawberry cream (350 yen) and the white chocolate crème brûlée mousse (430 yen). The beautiful cake in the shape of Nyaran’s face (right) is a strawberry shortcake from Juchheim priced at 1,080 yen.
▼ The lovely roll cake (left) decorated with adorable pink paw prints and filled with cherry syrup is available from Mikage Yamate Roll for 1,080 yen. The pink macarons stamped with an irresistibly cute paw print (right) are from Petit Alcyon, priced at 250 yen each.
▼ How about some rich chocolate cupcakes (left) from Factory Shin for 270 yen each? There’s also a sweet castela sponge cake from Bunmeido Kobe Store available for 648 yen.
▼ From Peche Raisin, we have a gorgeous fruit shortcake (left) topped with mango, pineapple, orange and of course a paw print chocolate, priced at 864 yen. You can also get a set of four mini roll cakes (right) topped with different fruits and a paw shaped piece of white chocolate for 1,500 yen.
▼ If you’re not into sweets, they also have non-sweet Nyaran foods too. The beautiful white and pink fish cakes (left) from Wadahachi are available at a price of 648 yen for a package of four pieces. There’s also a box of Korean-style gimbap rice rolls featuring a “paw print” made with sausages available from Sarangbang for 702 yen.
We just can’t get enough of those adorable paw prints! The Nyaran foods will be available at Daimaru Umeda Department Store from June 1 to 21, so if you’re going to be in Osaka in the next three weeks and cat-themed treats are your kind of thing, you’ll want to try some of the cute and tasty looking items. Yup, in our opinion, cats and yummy foods are a combination that can’t be beat!
