Yeah, your grandma is cool, but does she have a YouTube channel with over 290,000 subscribers?
Meet Korea Grandma, the 71-year-old restaurant worker from South Korea. She not only has great cooking skills; she also has a great sense of humor. Maybe that’s what inspired her granddaughter to pick up the camera, film her dear grandmother, and create a YouTube channel for her.
Korea Grandma uploads videos at a rate of about one a week, covering topics such as family trips, opinions on politics and pop culture, and makeup tutorials. In fact, her most popular video is her makeup routine for going to the dentist and the market. Since it was uploaded 5 months ago, it has garnered over 1.9 million views.
In the video, Korea Grandma not only introduces us to some of her favorite products, but also embellishes her narration with quips and statements that will probably ring true with even us young’uns.
▼ Even without makeup, Korea Grandma looks like a cool chick.
▼Grandma halts on the second step of her routine after realizing she’s run out of moisturizing cream. Oh, Grandma!
▼ Sage advice from Grandma. If your foundation gets in your hair, “just rub it off.”
▼ Even Grandma knows it’s a waste, but she does it anyway (just like the rest of us).
▼ And, voila! After applying two moisturizers, foundation, concealer, eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, two kinds of lip products, blush, and a product to make your face look smaller, you’re ready to go to the dentist and market! Phew.
As you can see, it’s not only the high quality of the videos that has helped Grandma become so popular. It’s all in her razor sharp wit and her lovable personality.
Most of Korea Grandma’s videos contain English video titles and English subtitles, so you don’t have to be a Hangul master to laugh along!
Korea Grandma also has an Instagram account (InstaGram? InstaGrandma? Alright, I’ll stop). The captions and audio don’t contain any English, but you can see some pretty awesome photos.
▼ For instance, here’s Grandma skydiving! Will you be up for an adventure like this at 71?
