These Bandai band-aids come with an app that lets Super Sentai or PreCure characters wish away the pain. Aww!
Remember falling over as a kid, and scraping your knee? Remember your mother, or father, or another kindly guardian pressing a band-aid over the cut? Maybe they said a little rhyme or kissed the top of the band-aid to make it feel better. Of course, kisses and rhymes don’t actually heal cuts, but they’re extra soothing to an upset child.
Toy-making company Bandai is putting that soothing power into the hands of injured kids everywhere with their newest product: augmented reality band-aids. Targeted at kids aged 3-6, all it takes is an app to summon your favorite PreCure or Sentai warriors forth to give you some comforting words about your scrapes or cuts. Each set of bandages retails for 300 yen (US$2.76) and comes with 20 assorted bandages.
▼ First you have to install the AR Player app, which you can access through this QR code.
When little Taro or Sakura gets a cut, you can rush to cover it up with a colorful band-aid. You have Super Sentai or PreCure designs to choose from, but be careful to examine your preconceived biases before assuming which one your kid wants.
▼ The vivid packaging stars the girls from upcoming PreCure season Star☆Twinkle PreCure.
▼ A bandage for every girl in the show, plus some!
▼ If girls and glitter aren’t your bag, there’s bandages of upcoming sentai show Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger.
▼ Ryusoulger doesn’t air until March, so you can get an early intro to the team!
Now that your little darling is bandaged up and no longer bleeding, it’s time for some soothing. Take out your app equipped phone and, in the app, hover the camera over the bandage.
▼ This bandage features Cure Star, voiced by Dempagumi, Inc. idol Eimi Naruse.
▼ “Aww, did you hurt yourself? Pain, pain, go away!”
Star☆Twinkle PreCure‘s first episode doesn’t air until February 3, so you can meet all the girls a day early if you’re especially beaten up beforehand – the AR services launch from February 2. Or, if you’re an adult fan of the series, you could just scan all the bandages without putting them on first. We promise we won’t tell.
