”Wait for meeeee!”
Animals have occasionally been found to do the silliest things, sometimes even getting themselves into all sorts of trouble without ever meaning to. One such incident was caught on camera at the Chiba Zoological Park, a zoo that welcomes over 690,000 visitors each year with its wide range of animals.
Recorded by Twitter user @striker_tahana, a gaggle of white geese can be seen noisily making its way back to an enclosure, catching the attention of a lone duck who might have mistaken the four geese for one of its own. Suddenly discovering it was being left behind by its friends, the duck desperately tries to return to the safety of the flock.

Unaware of its larger cousins’ advantage in height and stride, the duck picked up its pace and waddled as fast as it could manage, head rapidly swinging from side to side in an adorable effort to catch up. Good thing it realized its folly and veered toward its own home at the end.
▼ “Don’t leave me behind!!”
Chiba Zoological Park first opened its doors to the public in 1985, and houses over 149 types of animals in its spacious compound. And though the zoo is more well-known for its cute red pandas, many of which have become local mascots and TV celebrities, Japanese netizens agreed the highlight of that day belonged to the duck chase:
“I love how it tried its best to reach them.”
“I can almost hear the duck saying, ‘Wait, wait! You’re too fast!’”
“I couldn’t help but laugh at the way it was walking.”
“Thank you for making my day. It’s so cute!”
“I was there when this happened and they were all so adorable!”
It would have been funny if the duck went into the same enclosure at the end of the clip and realized that its friends were of a different feather, though we would not be surprised if it really did happen. Ducks do have a tendency to follow wherever the big ones go, even if it is a busy Tokyo street.
