You’d have to be almost as wealthy as the Briefs family to win all four of the different versions!
The latest round of Banpresto’s Ichiban Kuji lottery series officially began on March 29. The campaign, called “Super Master Stars Piece: The Son Gokou“, features a gorgeously detailed 34-centimeter (13.4-inch) figurine of Dragon Ball protagonist Son Goku as the prize, which comes in four color variations to boot:
▼ The Brush, based on anime series Dragon Ball Super‘s coloring
▼ The Original, based on the Dragon Ball manga’s coloring
▼ The Tones, based on black-and-white manga pages
▼ Two Dimensions, based on the look of a 2-D drawing
While a typical Ichiban Kuji ticket normally sets participants back about 600 yen (US$5.38), a single lottery ticket for this latest prize costs a whopping 5,000 yen ($44.79). Yikes!
Japanese net users were a bit taken aback by the price, but excited to see the new figure of Goku nevertheless:
“It’s a shiny Goku!”
“If you don’t get the one you want, you could wish for another chance using the dragon balls.”
“That much money should be worth two figures.”
“At that price, they should just sell the figurines regularly.”
Besides the hefty price tag for a single ticket, the figurines are also limited to a very select few number of game centers around Japan. The complete list of participating locations can be found here (Japanese only). But hey–looking on the bright side, at least one ticket doesn’t cost over 9,000 (yen)!
