If you’ve been wanting to eat Funassyi, here’s your chance!
People have a love/hate relationship with the crazy, twisting, jiggling, talking pear mascot from Funabashi City. Most of Japan loves it, and the other people hate the idea of a talking yurukyara, but still love it anyway.
It’s so popular that it inspired a new theme café all the way in Osaka, which is pretty far from its hometown of Funabashi in Chiba. While there have been Funassyi theme cafés in Tokyo, Nagoya and Fukuoka, this is the first time you’ll be able to dine with such reverent company in Osaka.
The café will have plenty of Funassyi-themed dishes like pudding, udon, burgers and meat, some of which are only available at the Osaka restaurant.
▼ Niku-nassyi Plate / 1,880 yen (US$18)
▼ Funassyi Katsu Burger / 1,380 yen
▼ Funassyi Shaved Ice Parfait / 1,380 yen
▼ Takoyaki (Surprise! They’re actually more like cupcakes!) / 500 yen
▼ Fruit Latte / 680 yen
▼ Pastry with Ice Cream / 1,280 yen
▼ Smoothie / 880 yen
▼ Funassyi Jiggly Pudding / 1,880 yen
And of course, no theme café would be complete without the awesome merchandise you can purchase there, and the Osaka Funassyi Café is no exception. The special café will only last from June 16 to July 25 this summer. Beat the crazy inevitable heat by visiting the best pear-themed café in town. Maybe you’ll even have a real Funassyi sighting!
