This year, customers can enjoy a citrus ingredient not often found on the Japanese mainland in Starbucks’ signature beverage.
While Starbucks spoils their customers with delicious seasonal releases throughout the year, there’s no better time to indulge in one of their cold and refreshing Frappuccino drinks than in the heady heat of a Japanese summer.
This year, Starbucks will be introducing a new citrus blend to help their Japanese customers cope with the hottest months of the year, and it promises to be one of their most flavourful releases yet, as it features the flavour of key lime – an ingredient not often found on the Japanese mainland.
▼ The Key Lime Cream and Yoghurt Frappuccino is said to pack a punch
with two types of lime-flavoured ingredients, all blended with a creamy yoghurt base.
The delicious-looking drink will feature the flavour of key lime juice, mixed with a key lime custard sauce that uses lime peel for added aroma and flavour. The combination of these two bold ingredients makes for a tart, refreshing Frappuccino.
The yoghurt base adds to the refreshing taste of the drink, and is a nice change from the usual cream bases that the Frappuccino is usually known for. While the beverage comes topped with a generous mound of whipped cream, for those who prefer to concentrate their attention on lime and yoghurt, the drink can be ordered without the heavy topping.
The Key Lime Cream and Yoghurt Frappuccino will be available in a tall size for 620 yen (US$5.55) at Starbucks locations around Japan from 14 July to 31 August.
