There has been a lot of latte art featured on the Internet lately, but the coffee created by Japanese barista, Yuuichi Ito, are some of the best we’ve seen. Mr. Ito is serving works of art by the cupful at Belcorno, an Italian restaurant located in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. Taking on the role as owner, chef, and barista at Belcorno, Mr. Ito is able to recreate popular characters from Disney, anime and manga out of foam, adding colorful accents and shading. Much like chalk drawings, it’s understood that latte art is not permanent, but it still seems a shame to destroy such beautiful masterpieces. At least we have the following pictures to enjoy!
First off, popular Disney characters done up in foam:
▼ Pooh and Tigger
▼ Baby Donald and Daisy
▼ Baby Mickey and Minnie
▼ A collection of many famous Disney characters. Which one is your favorite?
▼ Ariel!
▼ A scene from The Nightmare Before Christmas
▼ Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas
Mr. Ito has a soft spot for Snoopy, too:
This talented barista also creates beautiful latte art of familiar Japanese characters. Take a look at just a few of Mr. Ito’s amazing anime and manga recreations:
▼ Hanamichi Sakuragi from popular manga, Slam Dunk
▼ Chibi-Miku
▼ Sailor Moon
▼ Hello Kitty
▼ Japanese pop music duo, ClariS
▼ Hayao Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky
▼ No-Face from Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away
▼ Destroyer, Satsuki, from Kantai Collection
▼ Battleship, Fusou, from Kantai Collection
▼ Battleship, Kongou, from Kantai Collection
▼ Inazuma from Kantai Collection
▼ Echidna from popular game, Puzzle & Dragons
▼ Senbonzakura Hatsune Miku
▼ Carefully sipping the latte preserves the artwork.
Mr. Ito also draws very realistic portraits of famous Japanese ikemen (hotties).
▼ Actor/singer Masaharu Fukuyama
▼ Actor Sota Fukushi
▼ Singer/TV personality Sho Sakurai
And last but certainly not least, we have a picture of both sides of one of the most famous symbols of Japan, Mount Fuji.
This colorful latte art is almost too beautiful to drink. Have any of you ever had a chance to enjoy a coffee topped with artwork? If so, did you have the heart to destroy it? The quality of the espresso seems to take a back seat to the foam, but how was the overall taste? Those of us in the RocketNews24 office would like to know, so leave us a comment below. Maybe we should get an espresso machine in our office and try our hand at drawing Mr. Sato in our lattes.
