Thanks to the wonder of the internet, unlike in the past when we had to make do with what our local retailer had in stock or pay extortionate amounts for specialist items, with just a few clicks we have access an array of products from all over the world. As a result, many consumers are willing to try new and unusual things, and are using the net to get their hands on the products that they can’t get in their home country. Today we’d like to introduce you to a heartwarming story of internet shopping, great customer care, and of course sweet, delicious chocolate.
So I got a package from Japan today…wasn’t expecting a handwritten note!

It all began when an American netizen placed an order for a bag of Kit Kats originally intended for sale within Japan only – the legendary Matcha Chocolate Kit Kat. Unable to find them in his homeland, the online shopper jumped at the chance to get hold of the Japanese tea-flavored treats when he saw them advertised by a Japanese dealer on Amazon.
When the package arrived from Japan a few days later, however, there was something unusual about its contents. It wasn’t just the Matcha Kit Kats inside the box but a handwritten letter of gratitude from the sender and three origami shuriken throwing stars.
The customer was so moved by the polite service that he was quick to share his shopping experience online, posting a photo of his heartwarming package. Net users who read this were also intrigued and impressed by it all:
“I want to hug the sender!”
“Don’t know why but it looks cute!”
“I bet the inbox of the sender is inundated with mails.”
“I want to go to Japan!”
“I bet if you sent a mail to the Japanese seller telling them how impressed you were with the service, they’d be over the moon.”
“The Kit Kat looks distinctly like wasabi to me.”
Rest assured that the buyer had picked up matcha-flavored Kit Kats and not spicy wasabi! Though as you can see in the below photo, which we took during a recent Kit Kat splurge of our own, wasabi-flavored Kit Kats do really exist (second from bottom), and mighty good there are too!

But of course, it’s not just matcha and wasabi-flavored Kit Kats you can find here in Japan! As one commenter pointed out, depending on the time of year and the part of the country you’re in, there’s also:
