There’s just one store in the world that sells these and they’re available for eight days only.

Amongst all the cute home-grown sweets in Japan, Krispy Kreme has emerged with its own arsenal of adorable edibles, bringing out doughnuts shaped like Santa Claus and a snowman for Christmas, along with bunny and chick doughnuts for Easter. Now, the company has introduced a couple of cute horses to their range for a limited time, and it’s got nothing to do with seasonal holidays or festival celebrations.

▼ Can you guess why the company would invest time and thought in creating these sweets, which are on sale for eight days only?

The exclusive doughnuts were created for customers at the Hanshin Racecourse in Hyogo Prefecture. Krispy Kreme has an outlet set up next to the “Umajo” precinct of the racecourse, which is an area that offers goods and services for women, including a free drink and sweet upon entry, horse-themed felt-making courses, tours of the grounds and advice on how to place bets. After introducing a brown-coloured horse doughnut at the store during race days in March and April, they’re back in June with a new pink-coloured mare.

▼ The new doughnut is strawberry and cheese-flavoured, topped off with a set of biscuit ears and crunchy strawberry bits for its mane.

The store will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 4 – 26 June, meaning sales are limited to eight days only. The sweet horse doughnuts can be purchased on their own for 300 yen (US$2.78) each, or in assorted packs of three for 760 yen or six for 1,320 yen.
