From the UK to Japan to the US — Sherlock certainly is a busy traveler!
Titan Comics announced at New York Comic Con on Thursday that it will begin releasing the Sherlock: The Blind Banker manga in English in January. Like Titan Comics’ release of Sherlock: A Study in Pink, The Blind Banker will be a six-issue mini-series.
Titan Comics released the fourth issue of A Study in Pink on September 14. The issues correspond with the manga’s serialization in Japan. Titan Comics will also publish a single book volume.
The Japanese manga adapts BBC’s Sherlock series. In the BBC series, several Doctor Who scriptwriters (Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, and Stephen Thompson) takes Arthur Conan Doyle‘s brilliant yet idiosyncratic detective and re-imagines him in modern-day London. Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Fifth Estate) and Martin Freeman (The Office, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Hobbit, The World’s End) star as Sherlock and his friend Dr. Watson, respectively. There have been three seasons of three 90-minute episodes, and a fourth season is in the works.
The artist “Jay.” drew the Sherlock: A Study in Pink manga in 2012, adapting the BBC show’s first episode, “A Study in Pink.” The second run of the manga adapted the second episode, “The Blind Banker,” in 2013. A third run adapted the third episode, “The Great Game,” beginning in December 2014. Titan Comics also has the rights to the third installment and plans to release it in a similar manner.
